A Day at the Beach without Driving Too Far

A lovely stretch of white sandy beach, with cafe and ice cream outlets. One of the premiere blue flag beaches in the country. The whole area is internationally recognised for its wildlife, birds and unique beauty. Parking: Drivers may choose their parking place from the 20 acres of mown grass (£6.50 weekdays or £8 weekends –  or £4.50 (weekdays) £6.50 (weekends) after 3pm, and £3 after 5pm, all during high season). No part of the car park is more than 100 metres from the beach. No promenade here so it’s not ideal for buggies.
Avon Beach has fantastic views of the Isle of Wight and the famous Needles Lighthouse.
It runs at approximately a 1/4 mile of beach from in front of the car park to the end of the beach huts. The beach is mainly sand with some shingle. The beach is suitable for all the family, offering a gentle slope into the sea and there is a cafe on site. All facilities are catered for with ample parking directly at Avon Beach or at Avon Run Road, disabled access throughout and public toilets. Beach huts are also available to hire to make your day even more special.
A fantastic local park with its own beach and large pond for swimming in. The area is made up of a large area of heathland, together with some coniferous and mixed woodland. It includes two large ponds, known as Frensham Great Pond and Frensham Little Pond. Refreshments and toilets (including wheelchair accessible facilities) are available at both Ponds. Note – do check the water quality before taking a dip. Details for the Great Pond car park:  Bacon Lane, Churt, Surrey GU10 2QB. Please note the car park closes at 9pm. Parking is free during the week. However, parking charges apply on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 10am-4.30pm (from Easter Good Friday to end September). All vehicles – £4 (from April 2015) Blue Badge holders – no charge. National Trust members (please show your card or current NT  vehicle sticker) – no charge

Whether you’re seeking shallow waters and deserted beaches or some seaside fun at one of our traditional resorts there are a number of places within a driveable distance of Hart, Rushmoor and Surrey Heath. Just grab your bucket and spade…
